Council has announced that works on the Coorparoo Creek Park will commence in early March with completion expected in late 2017.
From March a small section of Barnes Avenue, between Harries Road and Edmond Street, will be closed for approximately twelve weeks, weather permitting. These works are required to install a culvert under Barnes Avenue to convey creek water from the new park to existing creek downstream.
A site compound will be temporarily established in the new park area on the corner of Holdsworth and Primmer Streets. Most of the works will be undertaken from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday; however some night works may be required. If you have any questions or complaints about the works, please call our free call information line on 1800 669 416 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Plans for the Coorparoo Creek Park can be seen at http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/environment-waste/natural-environment/creeks-waterways/protect-our-waterways/norman-creek-2012-2031-project/norman-creek-2012-2031-master-plan. The park is to have two uses – flood mitigation and open space/parkland. This means the area is heavily landscaped as protection from the flood waters. A bike and pedestrian path from Holmsworth Street and Barnes Street is proposed.
